CBD Moderates “Emotional Exhaustion and Burnout”  In Human Clinical Trial

The results of a clinical trial published last Friday (8/13) in the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) indicated that “CBD may act as an effective agent for the reduction of emotional exhaustion and burnout symptoms among frontline healthcare professionals.”

In the trial, which was authored by neuroscience, pharmacology, and psychiatry experts from the University of Sao Paulo and several other institutions, the 120 frontline healthcare workers enrolled to participate were randomly assigned to standard care plus placebo and standard care plus cannabidiol (300mg daily, split between doses) groups.

In this case, standard care included the viewing of motivational videos, psychiatrist consultation, and low-impact exercise.

Throughout the 28-day trial period, the participants completed weekly self-rating scales to provide study designers with the data they needed to assess the psychological impact of the treatment(s).

In addition, the researchers used the Side Effect Rating Scale of the Scandinavian Society of Psychopharmacology and several others to assess treatment safety.

At the conclusion of the study, the authors reported that emotional exhaustion (as assessed with self-administered scales, per above) among the treatment group had improved by a mean of 4.14 points by the halfway point of the trial period, although five of these participants had to cease use due to adverse effects.

Green Roads CBD Lands Distribution Deal in Japan Through Parent Company

The Valens Company, a Canada-based cannabis manufacturer that finalized their acquisition of CBD brand Green Roads in June, has officially entered into a third-party agreement with Tele Marche Co., Ltd., a Japanese company that will distribute Green Roads products throughout Japan via an online store.

In the press release announcing the deal, which is one of several undertaken this past year to provide Valens with international expansion opportunities, CEO Tyler Robson said, “We are incredibly proud to add Japan to the growing list of countries in which Green Roads’ products are available.”

Japan is the 12th country in which Green Roads products are available and customers in Japan will be able to browse all major CBD product categories offered by the brand, including CBD oil tinctures, edibles, capsules, bath bombs, and pet products.

CBDistillery Parent Company Acquired by Canada-Based Village Farms International for $75 Million USD

This week, CBDistillery parent company Balanced Health Botanicals was acquired by Canada-based cannabis (and produce) manufacturer Village Farms International for $75 million USD.

This move will grant Village Farms instant access to the US CBD market, where they will be able to focus both on high-THC products and health and wellness products intended for more general use.

CBDistillery’s already dominant position in the market adds to the expediency with which Village Farms will be able to distribute CBD- and THC-based products at a larger scale.

Said Balanced Health Botanicals CEO Chase Terwilliger of the acquisition, “We are ecstatic to join forces with Village Farms, a leader in the global cannabis and CBD industries.”
