All 50 States Allow Hemp Production After Idaho Gov Signs Bill
Idaho Governor Brad Little signed a bill into law allowing for the production of hemp in the state, making Idaho the final state to legalize hemp.
HR0126 will allow farmers to begin cultivating hemp crops in 2022; however, residents of Idaho will not be allowed to purchase any products with THC in them.
In the Idaho law, hemp is classified as containing no more than 0.3% THC by dry weight, the same definition given in the 2018 Farm Bill.
Since the 2018 Farm Bill legalized the production and sale of hemp-related products, states across America have passed legislation with varying degrees of rigidity to allow their residents to farm hemp.
Another Joint Effort, Another Sleep Study: Prospect Farms and Radicle Science
Maine-based CBD brand Prospect Farms and health and wellness research group Radicle Science will team up to conduct a “4-week Real World Evidence study” examining the efficacy of CBD for sleep.
Per the Radicle Science enrollment page, study participants will commit up to a total of 30 minutes throughout the 4-week trial period, after which they will be entered into a raffle for a product bundle and granted a 12-month supply of the Prospect Farms Dream Bundle (for participants who complete the entire study).
The researchers will collect various forms of data, such as dosage frequency, to comprehensively assess how Prospect Farms’ Dream Tincture affects sleep duration and other indicators of overall sleep quality.
Radicle Science will then use their “direct-to-consumer” approach to provide actionable insights based on the data “with the goal of advancing research and scientifically evaluating the effectiveness of our Prospect Farms Dream Tinctures on promoting a better night’s sleep.”
BOTA to Exit Chinese Market Amidst Proposed CBD Ban
CBD cosmetics brand BOTA, a subsidiary of Balanced Health Botanicals, is halting its ongoing expansion into China as the country cracks down on CBD-infused cosmetics.
Late last month (March 26), China’s National Institutes for Food and Drug Control issued a statement expressing their intent to ban cannabis-based extracts (and cannabis itself) in cosmetic products.
Where restructuring around the probable ban may be a viable strategy for CBD oil sellers, cosmetics-focused BOTA and similar brands will have fewer options.
BOTA had already launched in Hong Kong several months prior, and was performing well, but they and other cosmetic-heavy cannabis brands will have to pull out of the Chinese market or hope for a favorable turn in the upcoming legislative proceedings.
